D-PAIDEIA Press release – Training Highlights

Across Europe, the D-PAIDEIA project is empowering educators with the digital and pedagogical, competences needed for today’s classrooms. Through training programmes in Belgium, Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria, teachers are gaining practical skills, exploring innovative teaching strategies, and shaping school-level digital transformation.

In this press release, we will showcase the highlights and the impact and achievements of these training activities in partner countries.

Highlights from Belgium

Belgian teachers in different school levels and systems, of various ages and experiences, gathered for a two-day training in digital competencies. The training demonstrated to teachers how technology can assist in building stronger relationships, facilitating more flexible teaching methodologies, and managing digital identity and security.

Participants reported that the training gave them a clearer understanding of the framework (DigCompEdu updated by D-PAIDEIA), especially appreciating the socio-emotional dimension and the module on digital identity and reputation. Many acknowledged that, prior to the training, their knowledge was largely taught; they also stressed the need for more institutional support and time for further digital skills development.

Highlights from Bulgaria

In late September 2024, Sofia became a hub for educational innovation as the D-PAIDEIA project brought together experts and trainers from across Europe for a dynamic three-day Training of Trainers.

The program of the training followed the D-PAIDEIA Curriculum for the Pedagogical Digital Competences and offered a mix of theory and practice, focused on helping trainers understand and apply digital pedagogical strategies.

Highlights from Italy

In Italy, the D-PAIDEIA Training Course was delivered in a hybrid format (in-person at the University of Florence and online), ensuring broad accessibility for teachers nationwide from primary, secondary and higher education.

Participants, coming from various educational sectors and with different levels of experience, had the chance to explore topics such as managing educational relationships through ICT, developing flexible and inclusive teaching strategies and managing digital identity and reputation. The course saw active participation from teachers in primary, secondary and higher education, fostering an interesting exchange of experiences between those who were already experienced with technology and those who were just starting

Highlights from Greece

The D-PAIDEIA project in Greece reached primary and secondary educators via multiple training sessions. Over a weekend in mid-December (in Athens, at Impact Hub Athens), teachers from Athens, Thebes and Chalkida came together in a festive and collaborative environment to engage with the project’s digital-pedagogical training programme.

Later, a 2-day training in the region of Larissa (organized by the regional Primary Education Directorate, in cooperation with University of Thessaly’s Digital Systems Department) was tailored to primary school teachers with a focus on developing digital pedagogical capacities and empowering schools to build their own digital action plans.
